There must be a single use towel for each and every tattoo washing process.

1) General physical environment
- Minimum requirement is fifty foot-candles of light and adequate ventilation.
- An impervious material shall be used for construction of the tattoo floor.
2) Workroom
- Each tattoo studio should have separate workroom.
- There should be hot and cold-water facilities provided.
- Disposal of waste
- There are rules officially announced by commissioner bureau of the public health regarding the disposal of the medical disposal, which should be followed by each tattoo studio operator.
Registration requirements
- In West Virginia, there is business registration certification for each tattoo studio and they will register it with their local or regional board of health.
- Each tattoo studio should be going through an annual inspection conducted by each local and regional board of health. Everyone operating a tattoo studio shall apply to their local or regional board of health for the inspection.
- If any tattoo studio not acting according to standards then the inspecting authority shall have rights to order the tattoo studio to end operations. Tattoo artist will continue his/her work after proper inspection by inspecting authority.
