- Minnesota state government do not regulate tattooists and tattoo parlors.
- City or county agencies may regulate the tattooists. One has to check for his city or county agency to see if it regulate to license tattooists or tattoo parlors.
- Minnesota Law require the following regarding the tattooing of minors since 1st August, 1996.
609.2246. Tattoos; minors
- Subdivision 1
Requirements : Any person under 18 years of age is not allow to receive a tattoo unless and until he or she provides parental consent in the written form to the tattoo artist with custodial and noncustodial parents, where applicable.
- Subdivision. 2
Definition : In this section, 'tattoo' means an indelible mark or symbolic mark fixed on the body by insertion of pigment under the skin or by producing the scars.
- Subdivision. 3
Penalty : A person who tattoos a minor is a violation of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor.
