AAC 02.140. Board of barbers and hairdressers

In the Alaska state the written examination fee for practitioners of tattooing is $100. Practitioner of tattooing have to pay is $135 as license fees as established for all or part of the initial biennial license period. Biennial license renewal fees are established by Alaska state is $135 for practitioner of tattooing.

Transitional licensure

The Alaska state board will issue a transitional license only to practice tattooing or to practice body piercing to an applicant, who will fulfill all the requirements as per the sec. 31, ch. 93, SLA 2000, and submits followings:

  • A complete and notarized application by July 1, 2001.
  • The applicable fees as per the 12 AAC 02.140
  • Proof acceptable to the board of practicing tattooing for a fee. Here one may submit the following or a combination of the followings:
    1. At least two sworn affidavits from students or the employees, which verify the applicant's experience.
    2. At least one copy per month of a client release form for 12 of the last 24 consecutive months.
    3. Other information which can be acceptable to the board.

Thease laws establish some standards about prevention of diseases due to tattooing and branding. These rules are applied and interpreted in order to protect the public health. Main purpose of these laws is to protect the health of the public.
