Two motorcycles side by side and facing in the same direction is allowed, as there is no provision made for the motorcycles for two abreast in a same lane but more than two abreast in a single lane is not allowed in Michigan.

On Road Requirements for motorcycles

  • Turn Signals - Not necessary.

  • Rider-Education Waiver - Test for Skills.

  • Motorcycle Endorsement from Other States - Yes accepted.

  • RiderEd Completion Card from Other States - Not accepted.

  • Handlebar Height - At max 15" above seat.

  • State Insurance - Require compulsory liability and with the minimum limits of 20/40/10.

Off Road Requirements for motorcycles

  • Helmet safety - Required for all by law.

  • Eye protection - Required for all by law.

  • Minimum age for operator - Below 16 not allowed to operate a 3-wheeled ATV and supervision of over 18 person is must and below 10 not allowed to operate 4-wheel ATV.

  • Certificate of rider education - Needed for below 16 years of age.

  • License for operator - Not required.

  • Headlights - After sunset needed.

  • Taillights - After sunset needed.

  • Muffler required - It is must.

  • Sound levels Maximum limit - Restricted and 94dba measured at 20 inches allowed.

  • Trails Program - It is available.

  • Registration - Necessary by law.

  • Title for vehicle - Necessary by law.

  • Spark Arrestor - Required by law.
