Motorcycle Laws in Connecticut
Connecticut motorcycle laws gives you idea about wearing a helmet, what eye protection should one take, which parts of the motorcycles are compulsory like footrests, handhold for Passenger and the brakes etc.
As per the Connecticut laws, the motorcycle rider can use single traffic lane fully, but more than two motorcycles abreast in the same traffic lane is not allowed.
The motorcycle operator should not overtake and pass in the similar lane, while it is occupied by the vehicle being overtaken. It is not allowed to operate a motorcycle between the traffic lanes or through the adjacent rows of other vehicles.
Two motorcycles side by side and facing in the same direction is allowed, as there is no provision made for the motorcycles for two abreast in a same lane but more than two abreast in a single lane is not allowed in Connecticut.

On Road Requirements for motorcycles
- Helmet - Needed by law for under 18 years rider.
- State Funded Rider Ed - It is available for all the eligible applicants and it is required by under 18 years riders.
- Eye Protection - Needed if not equipped with windscreen.
- Headlight use during daytime - Headlight modulation is permitted and is must for 1980's vehicles.
- Seat for passenger - Needed if there is a passenger.
- Footrest for passenger - Needed if there is a passenger.
- Age restriction for passenger - No restriction.
- Speakers for helmet - Not restricted.
- Periodical Inspection for safety - Random and required as per the law.
- Use Left mirror/Right mirror - One of it is necessary by law.
- Radar Detector - Not necessary.
- Turn Signals - Not necessary.
- State Insurance - Require compulsory liability and with the minimum limits of 20/40/10. There is the 10% insurance discount for motorcycle rider education program graduates.
- Handlebar Height - Up to the height of operator's shoulders.
- Rider Education Waiver - Skill test.
- Motorcycle Endorsement from Other States - Yes accepted.
- RiderEd Completion Card from Other States - Not accepted.
Off Road Requirements for motorcycles
- Helmet safety - It is not required.
- Eye protection - It is not required.
- Certificate of rider education - Required for under 18 age.
- License for operator - Not required.
- Headlights - Not needed on 90cc or less machines and it can't be operated after dark.
- Taillights - Not needed on 90cc or less machines and it can't be operated after dark.
- Muffler required - It is must.
- Sound levels Maximum limit - Excess or unusual noise restricted.
- Registration - Necessary.
- Title for vehicle - Necessary by law.
- Spark Arrestor - Not necessary.
