North Carolina State's Marriage Ceremony Officiating Requirements
Residency Requirement: No problem if you are non-resident of North Carolina.
If Previously Married: In such case, you should know date of divorce or date of spouse's death.
Covenant Marriages: No.
Wait Period: None.
Marriage Fees Required: Approx. $50. Only cash is allowed. This can be change, so please make sure to check with the County Clerk's office.
Any Other Test Required: None.
Proxy Marriages: Not allowed.
Cousin Marriages: Yes.
Common Law Marriage Options: Not in North Carolina.
Marriage for Same-Sex Options: Not allowed.
Under 18 Marriages: Anyone under 20 years of age will need to show a certified copy of their birth certificate. If you are between 16 and 17 years old, you will have to show parental consent. Those who are 14 to 15 years old, you can't get a marriage license without a court order. Anyone under 14 years of age cannot get married.
Marriage Ceremony Officiants: Any ordained or licensed clergymen, and magistrates.
Witnesses: Two witnesses are required.
License validity period is sixty days.
