Indiana State's Marriage Ceremony Officiating Requirements

Within 20 days after the marriage, it is supposed that Ministers record the marriage on the marriage license and return it to the clerk of the Superior Court. Any of these pastors of recognized religious societies or licensed or ordained ministers, clergymen may perform marriage.

Following are some rules and requirements for Indiana marriage license as per Indiana marriage laws.

Residency Requirement: It is necessary, residents should apply in the county in which they live.

Identification Requirement: Any identification like a driving license showing current address and date of birth is required in Indiana. For those who are younger than 30, a certified copy of birth certificate is required as per rules of some counties.

If Previously Married: If last marriage was ended a month or a year back then, reason of end of marriages like death, divorce, annulment should be known to both. If you are divorced within the last 2 years, a copy of the divorce decree is required in some of the counties.

Covenant Marriages in Indiana: No.

Proxy Marriages in Indiana: No.

Any Other Test Required in Indiana: No tests are not required to get married here.

Wait Period in Indiana: None.

Marriage Fees Required in Indiana: For Indiana residents it is $18 and residents who are of other states and or countries is $60. No personal checks accepted.

Marriage for Same-Sex Option in Indiana: No.

Common Law Marriage Option in Indiana: No. But Indiana recognizes the common law marriages, which are legalized by other states.

Cousin Marriage in Indiana: If both are of 65 years age then first cousins is permitted.

Under 18 Marriages: For those who are 17 years old must apply for the license with both parents or the person with legal custody. A certified copy of birth certificate is also necessary. Those who are in between 15 to 16 years, must petition the Circuit Court via a 'Permission to Marry' form. It costs $124.00 even if the Judge disagree that marriage.
