Adopting Parties

    • The parent having the custody of the child.
    • A legal guardian.
    • An agency.

  • Followings may place a child for adoption :
    Statute: Tit. 15A, - § 1-102
    • Any person.

Putative Fathers

Vermont State does not have a Putative Father Registry.

  • What are the registry requirements to receive notice?
    Statute: Tit. 15A, - §- § 3-503; 3-404
    • A putative father can register a parental interest before the termination period (within 20 days) of the parental rights of the putative father.
    • Identification and notification of biological father is very important, so required efforts are made for this.
