Adopting Parties
- Followings may place a child for adoption:
Statute: - § 62A-4a-602- Parent.
- An authorized agency.
- Followings may adopt a child :
Statute: - §- § 78-30-1; 78-30-2; 78-30-3- A legal married couple.
- Any adult.
- A stepparent.
- Cohabiting persons are not allowed to adopt the child.
- Age difference between adoptee and adoptive parson must be at least 10 years.
- Consent from spouse is must for married person.
Putative Fathers
Utah State does not have a Putative Father Registry.
- What are the registry requirements to receive notice?
Statute: - § 78-30-4.13(3)(a); (5)- Reply to the notice of an adoption petition within thirty days is must for the putative father.
- The notice of birth or adoption proceedings is allowed for putative father.
