Adopting Parties

    • Legal guardian.
    • An authorized child-placing agency.
    • Adoptive parents.

  • Followings may adopt a child :
    Statute: Fam. Code - § 162.001
    • Adult.

Putative Fathers

Putative Father Registry is required in Texas State.

  • What are the registry requirements to receive notice?
    Statute: Fam. Code - §- §160.402(a); 160.312
    • Registration requires A Bureau of Vital Statistics form, a putative father needs to complete it first (with sign and acknowledgment).
    • A putative father can file within 31 days from the birth of child. He may file before the child's birth also.

  • Registry Information :
    Statute: Not addressed.

  • Paternity Revocation (of claim):
    Statute: Fam. Code - § 160.414
    • A signed and notarized written statement is must for revocation notice of intent to claim the paternity. A putative father can revoke at any time by submitting the above statement.

  • Registry Information Access :
    Statute: Fam. Code - § 160.412
    • The birth mother can access the registry information at any time.
    • A licensed agency, an authorized agency, a court, attorney (relating to case) is allowed to access the registry information.
