- Birth Certificate (Original): To obtain certificate, an adoptee must requests the court in which the adoption was finalized.
Consents
- Consent to an adoption shall be done by:
Statute: - § 25-6-4
- Age Requirement for consideration of Adoptee Consent :
Statute: - § 25-6-5
A child of twelve years of age or older must consent to the adoption.
- When Consent is not required :
Statute: - § 25-6-4
- If parent has abused or abandoned the child.
- On failure of responsibilities assumed for child.
- In case of any unfitness because of habitual use of drugs or any alcohol.
- Parental Consent can be executed :
Statute: - § 25-5A-4
- At least five days period is must for file the petition to consent or finish the rights after the birth of child.
