Adopting Parties

    • The child's parents and legal guardians
    • An authorized child placing agency
    • Social Services Departments

    Statute: - § 25-6-2; 25-6-3
    • Any person (must be 10 years older or more than the adoptee).
    • Any married person having the consent of his/her spouse.

    Within sixty days of the birth of child:
    • The putative father should openly acknowledge the child as his own.
