  • Followings may adopt a child :
    Statute: - § 15-7-4
    • Any RI resident.
    • A non-resident may adopt child in the custody of a child placing agency.
    • A couple (husband and wife) must petition jointly.

Putative Fathers

    • Appearance of putative father at the adoption proceedings is must and he should claim rights to the child.
