Adopting Parties

  • Followings may place a child for adoption:
    Statute: Tit. 10, - § 7503-2.1
    • A parents
    • A legal guardian
    • An agency having license to place a child
    • Department

  • Followings may adopt a child :
    Statute: Tit. 10, - § 7503-1.1
    • Both parents jointly iff both are age 21 years or more.
    • An unmarried person.
    • A stepparent.

Putative Fathers

Oklahoma State requires a Putative Father Registry.

  • What are the registry requirements to receive notice?
    Statute: Tit. 10, - § 7503-3.1(I)
    • At any time (before or after the birth of child), a putative father will receive the Notice of Plan for Adoption.
    • He must complete the form within thirty days for the date of the notice plan.

  • Registry Information :
    Statute: Tit. 10, - § 7506-1.1(D)
    • Name and address of putative father with his social security number.
    • Date of birth of putative father.
    • Name, date, birth place of child.
    • The name of attorney or child placing agency.
    • Registration date.
    • If this registration is related to adjudication by the court, then you must have information like the case number, court name, date of order, any other necessary information etc.

  • Paternity Revocation (of claim):
    Statute: Tit. 10, - § 7506-1.2(A)
    • For paternity revocation notice, the putative father has to submit a signed, notarized statement.

  • Registry Information Access :
    Statute: Tit. 10, - § 7506-1.1(I)
    Followings may access the registry information:
    • Court (any)
    • A legal agency
    • A person considered by the Dept. of Human Services
    • If a person has good reason to access this information.
