Adopting Parties

  • Followings may place a child for adoption:

    Arrangement of adoptions must be carried by:
    • A licensed agency or
    • An attorney

  • Followings may adopt a child :
    Statute: - § 3107.03
    • A couple (husband and wife) together.
    • A minor parents or unmarried parent.
      Legally separated married person/adult.

Putative Fathers

Ohio State requires a Putative Father Registry.

  • What are the registry requirements to receive notice?
    Statute: - § 3107.062
    • A putative father must complete the registration form of Dept. of Job and Family Services.
    • He may file before the birth of child or within the thirty days after the birth of child.

  • Registry Information :
    Statute: - § 3107.062
    • Name, address or phone number of the putative father
    • Name of the birth mother
    • Form receipt date

  • Paternity Revocation (of claim):
    Statute: None

  • Registry Information Access :
    Statute: - § 3107.063
    • The birth mother, a licensed agency and an attorney arranging the adoption of the child can access the registry information.
