    • A licensed agency
    • A legal guardian
    • Second decree relatives

  • Followings may adopt a child :
    Statute: - § 32A-5-11
    • Any NM resident authorized by the court
    • A married legally separated person
    • A stepparent

Putative Fathers

New Mexico State requires a Putative Father Registry.

  • What are the registry requirements to receive notice?
    Statute: - § 32A-5-20(B)(2)
    • The putative father may file a notice at any time (before or after the birth of child).

  • Registry Information :

    • A person's name and address
    • Information about the person who has filed a paternity

  • Paternity Revocation (of claim):
    Statute: - § 32A-5-20(E)
    • The putative father can at any time revoke a notice (intent to claim paternity).
