• Birth Certificate (Original): To obtain certificate, an adoptee must requests the court in which the adoption was finalized.

Consents

• Consent to an adoption shall be done by:
  Statute: - § 127.040
  • Parents
  • Legal guardians

• Age Requirement for consideration of Adoptee Consent :
  Statute: - § 127.020
  A child of fourteen years of age or older must consent to the adoption.

• When Consent is not required :
  Statute: - §- § 127.090; 127.040
  • If parental rights are terminated by the court.
  • If parent is unfit due to mental illness or due to other reason.

• Parental Consent can be executed :
  Statute: - § 127.070
  • The birth mother can execute consent before the birth of the child or she can execute it after the birth of child within 72 hours.
  • The father can consent before the birth of the child.

• Consent Revocation :
  Statute: - §- § 127.070; 127.080
  • If the adoption placement is in violation of the law and also the family is unsuitable to the placement, then the consent by the birth mother to the adoption placement can be revoked.
  • If the father marries the mother before the birth of the child, a consent may become invalid.
  • The birth mother can not consent to the adoption within six months of the birth of the child.
