Adopting Parties

  • Followings may place a child for adoption:
    Statute: - § 43-105
    • The parents, the department of Health and Human Services and license holding and child-placing agency may place the child for adoption.

  • Followings may adopt a child :
    Statute: - § 43-101
    • Any adult
    • Husband and wife together may adopt the child

Putative Fathers

Nebraska State requires a Putative Father Registry.

  • What are the registry requirements to receive notice?
    Statute: - § 43-104.02
    • The putative father needs to complete the form of DHHSFS (Dept. of Health and Human Services Finance and Support).
    • The putative father can file within the five days after the birth of the child or within the five days after receipt of adoption proceeding's notice.

  • Registry Information :
    Statute: - § 43-104.01(1)
    • Name and address of a person who is adjudicated by the court to be the father of the child.
    • Name and address of the person who has filed a notice.

  • Paternity Revocation (of claim):
    Statute: - § 43-104.01(3)
    • A putative father can revoke a paternity claim.

  • Registry Information Access :
    Statute: - § 43-104.01(4)-(5)
    • Anybody who is authorized by the court for valid reason shown.
