Adoption expenses regulation
Expenses allowed for birth parent : Statute: - § 710.54(3)
- Expenses including with medical and hospital costs, counseling.
- Living expense including with food
- Travel expenses legal fees.
Expenses not allowed for birth parent : Statute : - § 710.54(3)
- Medical expenses that are covered by birth mother's insurance or Medicaid.
- Living expenses only up to 6 weeks from the birth of child.
Expenses allowed for adoption arrangement : Statutes : - § 710.54(1),(2)
- A person shall not pay or receive compensation for:
- Arranging placement or consent for adoption
- Referring a parent to a prospective adoptive parent
Expenses allowed for child relinquishment : Statute: - § 710.54(6)
- Payment for expenses will be independent.
- Payment allowed on release of child or permission to the adoption.
- Support for completion of adoption.
Fees allowed for charges by agency or department : Statute: - § 710.54(3), (4)
- Pre placement assessment.
- An adoptive parent shall pay the reasonable and actual charge for the services of child placing agency.
- If require any additional investigations.
Expenses accounting as per court requirement : Statute : - § 710.54(7)
- At least 7 days before placement of the child, a verified accounting shall be filed with the court itemizing all payments till adoption
