Registry requirements to receive notice : Statute: R.S. - § 9:400; Ch. C. art. 1133 and 1137(A)
- The putative father needs to file before or after child's birth.
- The putative father gets the notice of filing of mother's surrender of the child.
- For registration, completed Hospital or Department o Health, Office of preventive and Public Health Services are most important.
- The putative father may oppose an adoption if it is filed within 15 days after service of notice of surrender, if the surrender is not filed.
- It is important to reputed father to acknowledge himself to be the father in writing statement or orally, and the mother must agree.
