State haven laws for Infants

- A child of age 14 years or younger than it.

- Have to first notify to the department
- Search and get information about the parent's address, name as well as any medical history if available
- Have to accept the child and take the custody
- Have to do actions in relation to the child protection
- Immunity for provider : Statute: - § 233.2 Yes
- Protection for relinquishing parent : Statute: - §§ 233.3; 233.5
- It is not at all necessary to provide parent's names or medical history.
- It is possible to keep the identifying information confidential.
- Effect on the parental rights : Statute: - §§ 233.2; 233.4
- Termination hearing of the parent rights done in 30 days.
- Parent can ask for the custody of a child before terminating the parental rights.
- Petition for terminating the parental rights can be filed soon after relinquishment.
