How to access adoption records?

  • Obtaining the non identifying information:

    In case of the adoptions privately, the adopted one if an adult can easily obtain non identifying information.

  • Obtaining the identifying information:

    The identifying information is available and you may get it from the 'Adoption Registry'.

  • Obtain the original birth certificate:

    An adopted person can also get the birth certificate from the registry or petitioning the court where adoption was processed and finalized.

  • Using the adoption registry:

    The birth parents of the adoptee and the adopted persons of age 21 or more with the parent's consent can access the registry.
