Adoption expenses regulation

Expenses allowed for birth parent : Statute : - § 16-1515

• A parent who fails to follow the adoption rules is required to return all the expenses done by the adoptive parent like legal fees, living and medical expenses and all other related expenses.

• The amount of pay back shall be estimated by the court.

Expenses not allowed for birth parent : Statute : - § 18-1511

• The living expenses should not extend further than 6 weeks after the birth.

• Without the permit of court, an economical help to birth parent shall not go above $2,000.

Expenses allowed for adoption arrangment: Statute :

• Not addressed.

Expenses allowed for child relinquishment: Statute : - § 18-1511

• It is against the law to sell or exchange (negotiate) a child for adoption or for any other purpose.

Fees allowed for charges by agency or department : Statute: - § 16-1506

• The department or agency may require petitioner to pay all or any part of the cost of the investigation.

Expenses accounting court requirment : Statute:

• Judges, in their discretion, may order an accounting.
