Adoption parties

  • Who can adopt: Statute: - § 578-1

    • A married couple jointly
    • An unmarried person of age 21 or more
    • Any spouse of the birth parent.

  • Who can be adopted: Statute : - § 578-1.5

    • Any one of age 21 or more with the written consent.
    • Anybody individually

  • Who can place a child for adoption : Statute : - § 578-2

    • Any of the child placement agencies which are licensed to do so.
    • Any of the Parent(s) or the legal guardians of the child
