Adoption parties
- Who can adopt: Statute: - § 19-8-3
Adult person including foster parent and who is:
- At least 25 years or of more age or married and living with his spouse
- At least 10 years or more than the child
- A resident of at least 6 months
- Physically, financially and mentally fit to take permanent custody of the child
- Married one may file jointly for petition.
- Who can be adopted: Statute: - §- § 19-8-3; 19-8-21
- Adult who have given a written consent.
- A child.
- Who can place a child for adoption : Statute: - § 19-8-4
- Department
- Child placing agency
- Parent or any guardian
