Adoption parties

  • Who can adopt: Statute: - § 19-8-3

    Adult person including foster parent and who is:

    • At least 25 years or of more age or married and living with his spouse
    • At least 10 years or more than the child
    • A resident of at least 6 months
    • Physically, financially and mentally fit to take permanent custody of the child
    • Married one may file jointly for petition.

  • Who can be adopted: Statute: - §- § 19-8-3; 19-8-21

    • Adult who have given a written consent.
    • A child.

  • Who can place a child for adoption : Statute: - § 19-8-4

    • Department
    • Child placing agency
    • Parent or any guardian
