Adoption expenses regulation

Expenses allowed for birth parent : Statute: - § 19-5-213

  • Attorneys and physicians may charge required and reasonable fees for professional services.
  • Attorney fees and other charges and fees but have to be approved by the court.

Expenses not allowed for birth parent :

It is not addressed in statutes reviewed in Colorado.

Expenses allowed for adoption arrangement : Statute: - § 19-5-213(b)

Nobody other than the licensed agency or adoption exchange may charge, receive money for locating or for identifying the child or natural parent for adoption or prospective adoptive parent.

Expenses allowed for child relinquishment : Statute: - §19-5-213(a)

Nobody can offer or charge any money or any other consideration related to the relinquishment and adoption.

Fees allowed for charges by agency or department : Statute: - § 19-5-207.5(4)

Anybody who is subject of a home study report and county department investigation shall be required to pay the cost of the investigation as per his/her ability to pay.

Expenses accounting as per court requirement : Statute : - § 19-5-208(4)

  • The adoption petition should contain the standardized affidavit disclosing fees details, costs, or expenses charged or to be charged by anybody or any agency related to adoption.
