Adoption parties
Who can adopt : Statute: - § 8-103
- Any adult resident of the State and it doesn't matter whether that adult is unmarried, married or legally separated.
- Husband and wife can also adopt.
Who can be adopted : Statute: - § 8-102
- Any child
- Any person of age 21 or may be less than that and who is foreign-born and not an illegal alien.
- A person who is adopted, should be present at the time the petition is filed within the State.
Who can place a child for adoption : Statute: - § 8-130
- A State licensed attorney can handle direct placements.
- A licensed child-placing agency
