Putative fathers

The state don't have a Putative Father Registry.

Registry requirements to receive notice : Statute: - § 25.23.100

  • A investigation is made to assure that all persons entitled to notice are located and given notice of the adoption proceedings.
  • A putative father is allowed to receive notice of adoption proceedings.

Information in the registry or claim : Statute: - § 18.50.165

The State registrar should give form for acknowledging paternity and this form includes:

  • A statement that the man who is signing the form is acknowledging that he is the natural father of the child and accepted the parental duty to help the child
  • Both parents and the child address and social security numbers
  • The witness or notary public person's signature

Revocation of claim to paternity : Statute: - § 18.50.165

The acknowledgment can be rescinded by the earlier of the following dates:

  • The date of the initiation of judicial procedure to establish support of the child
  • Within 60 days from the date of the person's signature
